About Caleb Crane

I bring over 25 years of business and technology development experience, with the majority of my career spent in Japan. I have provided consulting expertise to nearly 30 startups, leading numerous technology development projects from inception to success. I have built and managed teams of dozens of engineers, driving the creation of multiple revenue-generating products across a diverse range of industries, including finance, infrastructure automation, robotics, sharing economies, hospitality automation, accounting, and consumer goods manufacturing systems. I got my first technology job after dumpster diving for old computers with a friend. We were holding two machines (circa 1988) arguing about whether or not Linux would run on them when we got caught. The woman who found us offered us jobs. I’ve worked as a software developer, architect, devops, SRE, network engineer and ethical hacker. I enjoy Go, Vue, and Kubernetes, but can work in just about any stack given a little time to get up to speed. I’ve built teams and products, in English and Japanese, from the ground up for startups and large multinational corporations. I am data-driven and strive to manage both with an eye to statistics and basic human behavior. I’ve done technology due diligence for dozens of companies in Japan on behalf of VCs.
