About Caleb Crotts

My experiences as a leader and teacher began at an early age. I was a counselor assistant at 15 at a local summer camp where I found my knack for teaching and caring for children. I began working at the same camp at age 18 and continued this work for four summers. My jobs consisted of leading and caring for my cabin of boys and young men, age 5-17, teaching classes, constructing lesson plans for new classes, modeling a high standard of ethics, and upholding a positive attitude with great enthusiasm. My time working at this camp inspired me to travel overseas and serve in poverty stricken areas. I worked at a low-income school in the Philippines as a teacher and tutor and served in an orphanage caring for children. It was during this period of time that my passion for education began to grow. Upon my return to the States, I pursued my degree in English, Secondary Education. My education at Appalachian further expounded my foundational skills in teaching with wonderful instruction and constructive classroom experiences. I spent time tutoring students, observing great teachers and modeling their behaviors, and teaching and managing my own classroom. I am continually evolving and improving as a teacher and seeking new experience to grow my repertoire of communication and leadership skills.
