About Caleb McWhorter

I am a highly self motivated, quixotic, and engaged mathematician. It is my goal to obtain a Phd in Mathematics. I hope to participate in high level research and either follow that path into academia or work for a private company applying Algebraic Number Theory to Cryptography. Particularly, I would like to extend current work in Iwasawa Theory and work on creating a 'natural' group operation on the primes. However, I have many Mathematical interests, especially in financial mathematics as well as general applied Mathematics (which is why I also obtained a degree in Physics). I am especially interested in the way we create, interpret, and view different data sets. Since our view of the world and how we approach concepts stems from the way we interpret data (really experiences), it is of the utmost important we view data properly and innovatively. Finally, I also have a interest in the status quo and future of higher education, particularly in STEM fields. I am constantly trying to extend my repertoire of teaching techniques to better communicate not only Mathematics, but any intricate concept to individuals or large audiences.
