About Caleb Traylor

Senior Instructor at Florida Poly since Fall 2025. Prior to Florida Poly, I was a visiting faculty member at UMass Lowell for three years. Teaching is my passion, and I truly enjoy my job. I love working with students and helping them grow both as engineers and as people. I primarily teach courses related to thermal fluids and lab courses. I have a mechanical engineering background with energy engineering experience including both renewable energy and energy management. My PhD research focused on wind turbine blade structural health monitoring via acoustic methods and includes fluid dynamics and acoustics modeling. Other experience includes graduate level research into human thermal comfort and its impact on energy usage, an energy management internship focused on developing efficient methods of monitoring and sustaining energy efficiency, and traveling to implement small scale solar energy systems in developing countries. I am passionate about helping people improve their quality of life by providing access to energy and making the most of the energy available. One of my goals as a professor is to help students see how they can use engineering to make a difference in the lives of people around the world!
