About Caley Dunlop

I am a mineral exploration consultant and project manager for SGDS Hive currently working on the Vatu Aurum Project in northern Vanua Levu, Fiji, with Kalo Gold Corp. This project targets a low-sulphidation epithermal gold system within a complex volcanic-arc caldera setting, geologically similar to world-class Pacific Rim deposits like Emperor (FJ) and Martha (NZ). My work involves leading exploration programs across multiple targets, including high-grade diatreme-hosted and epithermal vein systems. I conduct field mapping, trenching and drill core logging, coordinate field logistics, and integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to refine models and support data-driven decision making in early to mid-stage exploration. Previously, I worked on the 3Ts Project near Vanderhoof, British Columbia, where I was involved in field mapping, trenching, and drilling programs to identify further targets in the high-grade epithermal quartz-carbonate vein system. This role provided me with experience in complex structural environments and strengthened my technical foundation in mapping, sampling, and field coordination in remote settings. Across both roles, I have developed a strong working knowledge of gold-bearing epithermal systems and the skills to manage exploration programs in dynamic and challenging environments. I am also committed to promoting equity and inclusion, and boosting public engagement in Earth sciences. As a former member of the Geology Student Council at Oberlin College, I helped advocate for greater access to geoscience resources and support for underrepresented students. I continue this work through volunteering with Below BC, a non-profit that promotes public education in Earth science and works to make geological information more accessible to the public. I’m passionate about using science to support sustainable development and the global transition to cleaner energy sources, and I aim to contribute meaningfully through responsible, inclusive, and community-centered mineral exploration work. I earned a B.A. in Geology from Oberlin College in 2022, with minors in Environmental Studies and Philosophy. I also bring a strong background in leadership and team development, having been a four-year member of Oberlin’s Varsity Softball team, serving as a Senior Captain and participating in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Outside of the field, I volunteer with the Active Living Department at Venvi Fleetwood Villa Retirement Home, where I assist in facilitating weekly programs that foster meaningful engagement for residents.
