About Callum Maytham

I believe that change and innovation start from the ground up. No matter what role I have held, whether it was stacking shelves at Iceland Supermarket at 3 am in the morning, or planning a five star dinner with ambassadors to NATO, I strive to create a culture of positivity, enthusiasm and hard work. My diverse range of experience has taught me a lot about people, the world, and what it means to be successful. For example, in a 3-month internship in Brussels, I worked with a small group of highly distinguished people on issues of global importance, such as migration, violence against women, conflict resolution and freedom of religion and belief. This involved planning and attending meetings with ambassadors and senior officials and working at events in the EU Parliament itself. I took initiative and pressed forward even when I felt out of depth and my efforts contributed to one of the most successful years in the history of the office. My positive attitude and work ethic has led me to thrive throughout my life. During my most recent job as a heating technician, I went from not knowing how to hold a spanner, to installing, testing, and commissioning heating units quicker and more efficiently than senior heating engineers with 20+ years of experience. During a contract to install 150 Heat Interface Units, I became responsible for four engineers and led the project for several months despite only having less than a year of experience. Having worked side by side brilliant and talented tradespeople on busy construction sites, as well as collaborating with the former president of the largest women's organisation in the world, I have gained invaluable insights into teamwork, leadership, and the importance of diverse perspectives. As I look to the future, no matter my role, I will continue to leverage my background and skills to be a force for positive change.
