About Callum Thomson

Currently looking for experience alongside my City and Guilds Level 3 study in domestic, industrial and commercial electrical installation, due to a career change after being made redundant from the entertainment industry.Previous employers have described me as hardworking, innovative and adaptable in the past. I’m also proud to say I’m a motivated multitasker who is capable of exceeding targets with confident decisions within the high pressures of any industry. Over the past 10 years I have strived to gain a breadth of knowledge and experience in a range of entertainment environments. I have been lucky enough to work in stunning world renowned venues alongside the worlds greatest performers within opera, rock, theatre, dance, circus, TV and fashion. My skills have developed from vast experience within rigging, lighting, production management and show operation in varied forms. I have come to find that once professionals work with me, I am invited for further work and feel this is a good illustration of my work ethos. As Covid-19 pulled the rug from underneath the entertainment industry, my colleagues and I had to adapt. That should highlight our resilience and motivation to succeed to employers. We also come with an understanding of hard work and how a 16 hour work day is sometimes the norm. I’m currently studying City and Guilds 2365-03 in Electrical Installations as it’s the most transferable trade skill to what I have years of experience in - BS7909 - inspection and testing of temporary electrical systems and Portable Appliance Testing. I already contain licenses and years of experience driving forklifts and MEWP which are transferable to my new career path. I hope you will recognise my motivation to succeed, ability to learn quickly and adapt to different climates. Whilst bringing transferable knowledge from a decade of hard work will form a solid foundation to grow within the electrical industry. All I need is an opportunity to prove that I can be a positive addition to any environment.
