About Calvin Rempel

Being part of a small technical team, I have had the great pleasure of being able to contribute in a myriad of ways to our overall efficacy, taking on new challenges beyond just computer repairs (as my title may imply) while leveraging my technical abilities and my eclectic assortment of other talents. From leveraging open source solutions to enable advanced printing functionality in the (now defunct) Google Cloud Print to creating tutorials both in written and video form, there is always something new to learn and do. My contributions to our teams documentation standards is probably one of my proudest achievements: I find a great deal of enjoyment in documenting the systems and facilities that I am involved in supporting - it is almost as much fun as the actual creative problem solving process itself, perhaps due largely in part to how it helps to harness and order the creative problem solving process while also being a creative process in of itself. From detailed site maps to room photos to quasi 3D mockups, I value clarity (and aesthetic appeal) in my documentation. Another of the things I have had some success in is automating repetitive and time consuming tasks - such as automatically managing users web applications that do not support bulk user operations, or syncing Google Users with Destiny or Adobe Creative Cloud, checking on our parts inventory and emailing us a list of things that need to be ordered on a weekly basis, and so on.
