About Calvin Samis

My recent experience as a Paramedic with BC Emergency Health Services has provided me with invaluable hands-on experience in providing pre-hospital care in high-pressure emergency situations. This role has honed my ability to make critical decisions under stress, maintain composure, and work effectively as part of a team—qualities essential for a successful firefighter. Furthermore, my active involvement as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Qualicum Beach Fire Rescue has equipped me with practical skills in fire suppression, rescue operations, and medical care during emergencies. As well, my commitment to my fellow firefighters, and the firehall itself, is paramount in my daily life. I am deeply passionate about community safety and well-being, and I am eager to contribute to the community around me and remain committed to protecting its citizens and their property. My diverse background also includes experience in environmental monitoring, construction, non-profit project coordination and wildfire management, and canoe trip guiding, all of which have instilled in me a strong work ethic, adaptability and versatility, and a commitment to continuous learning. My experience as a Forest Firefighter with the Ontario MNRF has also provided me with direct leadership and incident management experience. I look forward to a long career dedicated to the people and community around me.
