About Calvin Sumner

I currently advise companies with healthcare products in neuroscience on clinical development and commercialization strategy. I am Board Certified in Adult, Adolescent and Child Psychiatry, licensed in Special Education, and have over 30 years of experience in clinical medicine and leadership positions in the healthcare industry. Most recently, I held the positions of Chief Scientific Officer for Clinical Research and Medical Director for Quotient Development at NCS Pearson in the Clinical Assessment division and a similar roles at BioBDx for the six years prior to the corporate acquisition of BioBDx by Pearson. Formerly, I was a Senior Clinical Research Physican and Medical Advisor for Eli Lilly Research Laboratories leading U.S. medical teams in the development and commercialization of for medications for neuroscience indications. I am a clinical associate professor of behavioral medicine and psychiatry at West Virginia University School of Medicine, where I served as director of the psychiatry residency training programs and chief of the psychiatry clinical services prior to joining Lilly. I am a graduate of Columbia University with where I received a BA in Biology and Master's degree in special education. I received an M.D. degree with distinction from George Washington University School of Medicine and trained in adult psychiatry at GWU Medical Center with a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Children's Hospital National Medical Center. I am a past examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is active in leadership positions in professional organizations at the state and national level. In addition to my work in psychiatry I've been active in community education, prevention and advocacy for adults and children with mental illness
