About Camelia Proca

Pasionată de schimbări sociale care pornesc de la firul ierbii. În 2004 am fondat Asociația pentru Libertate și Egalitate de Gen - A.L.E.G. pentru că cred în alegeri libere de prejudecăți. Cred că egalitatea de gen face bine oamenilor de orice sex/rasă/etnie/vârstă, familiilor, școlilor, organizațiilor, iar depășirea inegalităților e necesară pentru sustenabilitate. În prezent, studiez Sustainability Leadership la un program de masterat la Universitatea Cambridge. Sunt formatoare acreditată în domeniul egalității de gen și al prevenirii violenței domestice. În 2018 am fondat programul SiEuReusesc care transformă felul în care ne eliberăm comunitățile de violența domestică și prevenim relațiile abuzive. Am lucrat de asemenea timp de 8 ani în proiecte europene de mediu și cunosc legislația europeană de mediu. Cred în soluții integrate la probleme lumii, care depășesc limita unui singur sector. Timp de șase ani am consiliat una dintre puținele femei aflate în funcția de președinte de consiliu județean din țară - a fost încă un mod de a contribui la un precedent care deschide calea fetelor și femeilor să ajungă acolo unde se iau decizii și se împart Passionate about transforming the understanding and practicing of power towards more sustainable modes that enable people and their environment to thrive. I am founder and director of A.L.E.G. – civil society organization active for gender equality in Romania and Eastern Europe, former board member of the European network Women Against Violence Europe (WAVE), currently on the advisory board of Global Fund for Children. Trained in the field of women's rights at the Raol Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in Sweden, I designed innovative survivor-led specialist support, as well as delivered training programs for professionals in projects such as the UNFPA Spotlight Initiative on SGBV in Central Asia. I have also worked for 8 years in EU environmental projects with a focus on biodiversity, so I am familiar with European environmental legislation. I believe in integrated solutions to the world's problems, which go beyond the limit of a single sector. For six years, I was counsellor for one of the few women holding the office of County Council President in Romania. I believe in life-long learning and I am currently pursuing as student the Master’s in Sustainability Leadership, at the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (CISL).
