About Cameron C. Beatty

To teach is not to transfer knowledge but to create the possibilities for the production or construction of knowledge.” –Paulo FreireMy teaching philosophy and teaching effectiveness is reflective of my overall commitment to leadership studies, social justice, and change through education. As a facilitator in the learning process, I pay attention to classroom dynamics and seek to create a supportive environment for students, within which, they feel safe taking risks and making mistakes. My teaching centers on fostering co-learning environments where students and I engage in collaborative learning. I draw from critical pedagogy challenging students to explore, both personal and systemic, assumptions. I encourage discussions on issues of power, privilege, oppression and representation, as well as work to understand how higher education and student learning is culturally and socially constructed.
