Hi there! I’m Cameron—a tree-hugging communications aficionado with a flair for writing and editing, as well as a penchant for all things media- and sustainability-related. Currently, I’m working my creative and scientific muscles as a Scientific Technical Writer/Editor (Communications Manager) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health. On top of that, I'm pursuing a master’s degree in Global Sustainability at the University of South Florida—because who says you can’t save the world while perfecting your prose? With over 9 years of experience under my belt in editing, writing, content management, social media, photography, journalism, marketing, and public relations, I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything across various industries. My work has been featured in numerous publications across the world (both print and online), and I’ve navigated roles within the federal government, educational institutions, private companies, nonprofits, financial organizations, and medical facilities—both at home and abroad. I kicked off my journey in 2011 when I joined the U.S. Air Force, lured by the promise of a free t-shirt and chance to "see the world"(spoiler: my one-and-only stop spent frozen in South Dakota). After working as an Avionics Technician on the B-1 Bomber, I decided to chase my true passions: creating content and staying warm! I returned to the Sunshine State to obtain both a bachelor’s in Journalism and master’s in Mass Communication from the University of Florida. Hailing from the quaint town of Gulf Breeze along the Florida Panhandle, I’ve been fortunate enough to call various corners of the globe my home. My adventures as a journalist have led me to discover that travel is the ultimate muse—especially when it comes to stories about ecotourism and conservation. Over the past decade, I’ve explored 40 countries across 6 continents (grateful for my frigid time spent in South Dakota, which ignited my wanderlust). Fun fact: I've been collecting National Geographic magazines since I could toddle to the bookshelf, dreaming of one day telling stories that inspire people to explore and protect our incredible planet—hint, hint, yellow border buddies! When I’m not busy crafting compelling narratives or plotting my next expedition, you’ll find me enjoying the company of my favorite creatures: animals. I share my life with my lovable dogs, Maggie and Rajah, and their ever-tolerant feline sisters, Tortilla and Rocket. Thanks for stopping by to learn a bit about me.
