Background
About Cameron Deblasio
The public journal is a public trust.**Cameron DeBlasio is a skilled writer, editor and organizer with extensive experience in both broadcasting and politics. He currently works for WDTV 5 News/WVFX Fox 10, the CBS/Fox affiliate in Bridgeport, West Virginia. From August 2025-February 2026, he served as the Daybreak producer, overseeing the 5:30-7 a.m. morning show. He now serves as the 5p/6p producer, making all editorial decisions for both evening newscasts. He also has worked as a multimedia journalist, anchor and producer for WLFI TV-18 in West Lafayette, Indiana. While there, Cameron worked in a variety of roles, from morning MMJ to statehouse reporter to the producer of the weekday 6 p.m, 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. While in college at Ball State University, Cameron worked for NewsLink Indiana, the only live, daily newscast in Delaware County, broadcast on PBS, and run entirely by students. He served as an MMJ, anchor and producer before becoming assistant news director.Cameron also has experience in political communications. During the 2020 general election, he worked as the communications director for Joe Mackey, the Democratic candidate for Indiana’s 4th U.S. Congressional District. Cameron oversaw all aspects of the campaign’s comms strategy — press releases, social media, website and graphics development, and video and audio production. Cameron helped Joe secure the most votes of any Democratic nominee in the previous six elections. In addition to news and politics, Cameron has a lengthy background in public address announcing. While at Ball State, he served as the PA announcer for Cardinals baseball, soccer, field hockey, men’s and women’s swimming, and men’s and women’s tennis. From 2016-2022, Cameron served as the PA announcer for the Lafayette Aviators, a collegiate, summer league baseball team. In the fall of 2021, he served as a PA announcer for Notre Dame men’s and women’s soccer. He was also a finalist in 2021 to be the next in-stadium voice of Notre Dame Stadium, home of the storied Notre Dame football program.Although he has fallen deeply in love with news, Cameron’s affinity with sports and sports announcing is actually what led him to pursue a career in journalism. He is an avid Pacers, Reds, Steelers, and IU Hoosiers fan. He also loves going for nature walks, watching a good sitcom or crime drama, and playing an occasional round of the famed Indiana card game, euchre.
