Significant industry experience in environmental law, agribusiness, CPG/food/beverage, shipping law, transactions, and energy law. EXPERIENCE: Agribusiness/Environmental Law- In-house counsel for CHS Inc- Represent CHS global grain marketing product lines, handling global trade and shipping disputes- Represent CHS crop protection product line, counseling the business on risk and transactions and implementing legal tools to drive an efficient enterprise- Defend dairy and livestock operations in state and federal enforcement cases- Assisted client through Environmental Impact Statement process- Lead permitting efforts for Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act regulated facilities- First chair litigation experience- Worked on a team representing agribusiness client in 200+ plaintiff mass tort claim, led document gathering process in discovery- Represented a manufacturer in a legal and administrative challenge to an EPA Clean Air Act rule promulgation in federal court- Environmental counsel on deals from $50-100m. CPG/Transactional- Negotiated product supply agreements, leases, third party manufacturing agreements, and other commercial contracts- Represented companies in asset sales, drafting and negotiating asset purchase agreements- SKU equity mentor for Austin track of emerging CPG brands. Energy- Represented major energy utility in gas and electric rate case, preparing witnesses and testimony for public utility commission hearing- Advised client on alternative energy transaction, represented both the buyer and seller on the transfer of environmental regulatory permits in the purchase and sale of an anaerobic digester- Represented client in California Air Resources Board investigation- Worked collaboratively with GHG brokers to secure carbon credits from large dairies and negotiate with state regulatory authorities to release carbon credits. Governance-Work with CHS Board of Directors on specific corporate governance projects.
