Background
About Cameron Glasgow
Digital content creator, communications advisor and professional Scottish politics nerd. I work with Members of the Scottish Parliament and Councillors to create digital content that engages with the Scottish electorate in new and creative ways. I am the dedicated content creator and platform manager of the most-followed TikTok account in Scottish politics, and I have applied a strategic shift in Instagram content, resulting in increased engagement. As part of a small communications team, I have traveled across the country (by public transport), producing content with a quick turnaround while also capturing material for long-term projects and b-roll. I’ve also had the pleasure of accompanying MSPs, Councillors, and candidates on the road to TV debates such as BBC Debate Night or press conferences where I have advised on talking points and offered critical support. Additionally, I have strong expertise in writing press releases, articles, and press comments. Whilst working in a small team has presented capacity challenges, it has also allowed me to develop essential skills and adapt to high-pressure environments. I’ve had the honour of working with experienced comms professionals who have taught me some fantastic new skills, not least how to handle crisis comms. I was on the comms frontline during the collapse of the Bute House Agreement in 2024 and successfully ran an online and traditional media membership campaign on the back of this historic event, which saw hundreds join the party and a spike in one-off donations. My experience also covers digital advertisements on platforms such as META and analysing social media data to improve future content. I managed budgets for digital advertisements, including during the 2024 General Election campaign, which resulted in a reach of hundreds of thousands and digital impressions of millions. Using data and analytics from social media accounts, I have taught staff members, party volunteers and elected representatives how to better utilise their presence on social platforms. I have successfully used A/B testing to manage the outcome of social content and formats whilst also implementing UTM campaigns to better understand our unique audience. My current jobs are linked between two organisations; I work with the Scottish Greens Parliamentary Group based in Holyrood, where I create content with MSPs, advise on their social media channels and highlight their work through press releases. I am also employed by the party itself, which is where I focus on election communications, wider strategy work, and analytics.
