About Cameron Gobel

I am a high distinction average Bachelor of Environmental Science (Wildlife and Conservation Biology) student at Deakin University in the process of changing industries and reskilling after spending over 7 years in the rural retail industry. In my former roles, I led and managed teams to effectively service clients’ needs whilst increasing KPI’s such as sales margins and stock rotations, as well as client and staff satisfaction. People I encountered when in this industry said that I was dedicated, showed strong skills in leadership and teaching, and that I displayed ethical behaviour; “Cameron has a very clear picture of what is right and wrong and refuses to overstep these boundaries, which is admirable.” Since leaving rural retail in early 2021, I have completed a Diploma of Conservation and Land Management and subsequently commenced further studies. I have worked for and volunteered with industry leading organisations such as Zoos Victoria, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, and Nature Glenelg Trust to enhance my skills in conservation and ecosystem management. Collaborating with the above-mentioned organisations, I have worked on Zoos Victoria’s Eastern Barred Bandicoot Recovery Program, delivered fuel reduction activities including the execution of planned burns, and played part in initiating a wetland monitoring project.
