About Cameron Langfield

Dr Cameron Langfield is a Lecturer in Criminology, Justice and Social Policy at the University of Wollongong, where he contributes to both teaching, research, and governance in the School of Social Sciences. His academic interests and expertise lie at the intersections of quantitative criminology, youth justice, exceptional event criminology and developmental and life-course criminology. Dr Langfield has worked in the higher education sector for many years, holding a variety of roles that reflect his commitment to student engagement and academic excellence. His experience spans positions such as Sessional Tutor, Research Assistant, Senior Student Mentor, Associate Lecturer, and, since January 2025, Lecturer in Criminology. Across these roles, he has developed a strong foundation in curriculum development, student support, as well as interdisciplinary research collaboration. He recently completed his PhD in Criminology, which examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth offending patterns in New South Wales. His research provides critical insights into how public health emergencies reshape youth behaviour, policing practices, and justice system responses. Dr Langfield holds a PhD in Criminology, a Bachelor of Criminology with First Class Honours, and a Bachelor of Science (Psychology). He also holds a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, with a focus on team performance and organisational effectiveness which are skills he brings to both his academic and administrative responsibilities. He is currently undertaking a Diploma in Modern Languages (Italian) part-time.
