About Cameron Lomas

My experience working in high risk and stressful work environments has given me a professional and safety conscious work ethic that I am able to apply to my study, volunteer positions and my work. I have extensive experience working and training with youth and young adults and am passionate about learning and value adding to all endeavours I am a part of. I have been an active firefighter since 2013 as a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service and SA Country Fire Service, have studied fire investigation with Charles Sturt University and Fire and Culture at the University of South Australia. I have experience working in the fire safety industry as a portable fire equipment and emergency lighting technician and have held many brigade level roles such as Breathing Apparatus Officer, Equipment and Maintenance Officer and Training Officer. I am passionate about Australian ecosystems and have experience in water quality monitoring, research design & analyses, spatial science & GIS, and ecosystem survey. I am an active community member volunteering with many organisations which has given me unique perspectives and learning opportunities. I actively use this experience and knowledge in all undertakings I am a part of, applying my personal ethos of: Promoting all others above myself, as my understanding of the core role of a leader and my way of enacting it, of bringing those on the outside in, as my way of building teams and ensuring everyone feels involved and valued, and of never asking of someone that which I am not prepared to do myself, as my way of ensuring safe work practices and fairness throughout the work.
