About Cameron Naraine

I am a recent PhD graduate specializing in the design and development of integrated photonics devices and metasurfaces. My academic journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in photonics, optics, and semiconductor technologies. I am passionate about applying my expertise to solve real-world challenges and drive innovation in the industry. During my doctoral research, I focused on developing functional, high-performance silicon-based photonic integrated circuits engineered using subwavelength grating metamaterials. I also participated on collaborative projects with industry partners, including the development and deployment of a process design kit for an integrated photonics foundry's silicon nitride platform. This involved establishing new design processes and standard coding practices across diverse CAD software tools and programming languages, frequently communicating with internal and external partners, and constantly balancing multiple projects along different phases of the design-fab-test cycle. This work not only honed my technical skills but also enhanced my problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, organization, and project management skills. Now transitioned to industry, I am contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in the realm of nanofabrication. Leveraging my background in photonics, I participate in large scale projects that drive technological advancements and create impactful solutions for the problems of tomorrow.
