About Cameron Peterson

My name is Cameron Peterson and I enjoy analyzing demographics, statistics, and land and using this analysis to create useful, informative, and interesting maps. I came to a career in GIS through my joy of studying demographics and landscapes and interacting with maps that could tell the story of those landscapes in quantifiable ways. In addition to the diverse GIS capabilities learned through hands-on classroom projects, I have continued to gain experience using ArcGIS through various volunteer projects. I recently helped a landowner find and assess agricultural drainage tile systems utilizing Trimble GPS technology and importing it into ArcMap. I also created maps displaying suitable sites for a business using demographic data and land-use shapefiles. Additionally, I analyzed soil types along with seed types to determine most efficient matches for corn and soybean production, demonstrating my ability to integrate hard data into economic models of production. Furthermore, throughout my career in business, I have held various titles, most notably for my career goals, is market analysis I was involved with while working at Falk Paper. My success in diverse roles is evidence of a confidence my superiors had in my ability to learn and adjust according to the requirements of each job.
