About Cameron Rice

I’m a registered social worker, mental health counsellor, and longtime advocate for accessible, community-rooted care. After five years of balancing academic study, frontline practice, and starting a family, I’ve recently completed my Bachelor of Social Work and joined the Peaks to Prairies Primary Care Network as a Social Worker & Mental Health Counsellor. My practice is rooted in mindfulness, metacognition, and Buddhist teachings, integrating evidence-informed approaches such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and strengths-based frameworks. I work with individuals navigating a range of mental health and addiction-related challenges, with a special focus on supporting rural communities where isolation and stigma often hinder access to care. I facilitate group workshops, engage in one-on-one counselling, and contribute to the development of practical, compassionate resources that empower clients to build resilience and rediscover agency. I’ve worked extensively with unhoused populations, individuals navigating addiction and recovery, and rural communities where stigma and isolation often create barriers to support. I’m particularly passionate about dismantling harmful constructs of masculinity and creating brave spaces for men to explore vulnerability and healing. Outside of work, I’m a husband, dad, Buddhist practitioner, a fan of all things nerdy, and an aging punk who still believes in the power of stories to change lives. Whether it’s through storytelling, support work, or shared sacred silence, I believe people are capable of meaningful change when offered respect, authenticity, and the right tools at the right time.
