About Cameron Strauss

I am a student at the University of Sydney undertaking a bachelor’s degree of Politics and International Relations. I was working for two years as a Ramp Support Agent at Sydney Airport with Swissport, during which time I developed very strong interpersonal and communication skills, having to work both independently and in team environments. Furthermore, working a hard job over two years whilst undertaking full-time study required a strong degree of resilience and time management skills to manage all of my tasks in an effective manner. Furthering such skill requirements was my role as a TWU union delegate at my work yard, where I had the extra responsibility of ensuring the wellbeing and interests of my colleagues. In this role, I was heavily engaged in lobbying the federal government, the Parliament and civil society for instituting a mechanism multi-employer bargaining in industrial relations legislations, both in a personal role and as part of the TWU. Such engagements gave me a good understanding into the workings of government relations, policymaking and stakeholder engagement.
