Cameron Taylor is an award-winning journalist. Currently, he is an evening anchor at WALA-TV, the FOX affiliate, in Mobile, AL. Previously, Cameron was an anchor and investigative reporter in Kansas City, MO. In 2023, Cameron won a regional Emmy for his coverage of a double murder-suicide involving a tracking device. Following his reporting, Kansas strengthened its stalking laws. Before moving to Kansas City, Cameron spent seven years working in various markets in Tennessee including Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville. In 2021, Cameron was nominated for two Emmys for his coverage of the Christmas Day bombing and his cold case series in Nashville. In 2018, he was recognized for his investigative work in Chattanooga. Throughout his career, Cameron has been known for his connections in the community and his ability to enterprise lead stories. He specializes in breaking news, in-depth reporting, investigations, and politics. On the anchor desk, Cameron brings urgency, accuracy, and empathy to connect with the audience. Cameron got his start in Panama City Beach, Florida. It was there he won a Florida AP Broadcasters award for his investigative work. The piece looked into the parasailing company involved in a tragic accident that seriously injured two Indiana teenagers on vacation in Panama City Beach. Cameron's passion for journalism began at the University of Florida. He earned two bachelor's degrees in telecommunication and political science. Go Gators! During his time at UF, Cameron anchored, reported, and produced for the NPR affiliate, WUFT-FM, and the PBS affiliate, WUFT-TV. Cameron interned for several news outlets across the country including CBS News in Washington, D.C. and WTSP-TV in his hometown of Tampa, Florida. His radio and television work have been recognized by RTDNA, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the National Broadcasting Society, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Florida Associated Press. In 2013, Cameron was awarded a national Edward R. Murrow award for his report on the declining oyster industry and its effects on a small North Central Florida town.
