About Cameron Tiefenthaler

Be the change you wish to see in the world." While it's cliche, I strive to live my life by these words. I am more than just my resume and experiences, though. I'm Cameron, and here are six things about me you can't see from my resume: 1. I'm creative! I'm a nationally award-winning quilter and seasoned baker. I have sewed since I was in third grade and have won competitions in several states with my quilts. I've loved making connections with older generations of quilters along the way. In terms of baking, I love making sourdough bread from my starter, Artie, and challenging myself with new and innovative recipes. I'm optimistic! I believe strongly in the power of an individual to make a difference. This is why I've spent countless hours working to improve issues I see on my campus and community, like lowering barriers to voting and advocating for composting on my college's campus. I've helped amplify the work of women in politics and encouraged more women to take on leadership positions on campus. I love learning! When given the opportunity to go to an optional lecture or take an extra class, I do it. I never turn down an opportunity to learn more about the world around me and empower others to share the same curiosity. I'm curious about why things are the way they are and how I can fix problems. One of my favorite ways to learn is through hands-on experience and travel. I strongly value personal relationships! I strive to build friendships with everyone from the leaders in my community to the quiet person in the back of the classroom. I believe in the power of kindness to turn around someone's day. I'm definitely a people person and extrovert, and I use this part of my personality to my advantage. I set goals and achieve them! As my top Clifton Strength, I pride myself in achieving what I put my mind to. This not only applies to my academics, but to my career goals of accomplishing what I can to make the world a better place. I pride myself on identifying a need and following through on a specific task. I've dedicated my Miami time to promoting civic engagement and working to engage students in the electorate who previously felt excluded. I live a life of leadership! I cultivated my leadership skills in 4H for 13 years while leading my club and serving on Ohio's state board. I attended and facilitated conversations at HOBY, a leadership seminar, and was a leader in the Senate during Buckeye Girls State. I always look to increase my involvement in organizations that I believe in and strive to be a leader in every sense of the word.
