About Cameron Young

Cameron Young is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose preparation includes a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College Graduate School, a Master’s in Theological Studies at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before transitioning into professional counselling, Cameron spent more than 20 years working in church leadership in Brazil and in the US. His passion for helping people led to his leadership in starting a nationwide network of Christian 12-Step recovery groups across Brazil, a country where Cameron has lived much of his life. Cameron sees each client as a hero for stepping out of denial about his or her pain, dysfunction, confusion or self-destructive habits, and seeking help. His goal is to empower each client to live to their maximum potential, at peace with themselves, with God and with those around them. In addition, Cameron has a particular passion for helping those who experience pain and unhappiness in their family relationships, romantic relationships or close friendships. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cameron wants to help restore order within, and connection between, people. Cameron enjoys working with couples, families and individuals who manifest distress, depression, anxiety, anger and confusion over loss, abuse, separation, trauma and divorce. He has specialized training and experience in working with sexual and porn addictions. Cameron has extensive experience in teaching and training across a wide variety of topics and welcomes invitations from the community and from faith-based organizations to speak on these topics.
