About Camiel Box

As a medical doctor and epidemiologist, I aim to bridge the gap between epidemiologic evidence and clinical practice. In my PhD research, I focus on individuals with covert brain infarction, a largely neglected patient group, in order to provide clinicians with evidence on which of these patients to treat and how. In doing so, I hope to contribute to the prevention of stroke and dementia. My ambition for the future is to be at the forefront of disease prevention efforts as a clinician-scientist. Besides my research activities, I am an advocate for systemic changes to address the climate and ecological crises. To drive changes within my institute I founded our departmental Green Team, while outside I try to raise awareness amongst the public about the climate and ecological crisis being the biggest health threats of the 21st century.
