About Camille G.

I am a proud native of South Los Angeles with a goal to enhance the material and social conditions of communities like the one I grew up in. I am currently a MSW student gaining clinical and case management skills while simultaneously learning to have a trauma-informed, systems theory approach when working with clients impacted by trauma. As a future social worker for children and families, I advocate for their safety and wellbeing while ensuring they are provided with resources to protect them from abuse and neglect. As a Student Project Manager for the Diversity, Disparities, and Difference (D3) Initiative at UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, I work on an interdisciplinary team to promote diversity throughout the Luskin and broader UCLA community through collaborative events, hosting trainings, and promoting healthy dialogue across different groups. I have 2 years of experience in primary education where I developed skills in classroom management, creativity, leadership, and teaching mindfulness and horticultural practices to K-4 children in New Orleans, LA. My research experience includes a qualitative study on the life experiences of Black older LGBT adults through an intersectional, grounded-theory approach.
