As an educator, my role goes far beyond sharing knowledge of accounting with my students. These students not only need to learn content, but be led in life. They need a positive role model that can help direct their path, ignite future goals, and provide stability. As an educator and leader, there are three characteristics that I value: learning, mentoring, and utilizing. I believe a good leader acknowledges that there is always more to learn and improve upon. I understand the value of learning from others in order to contribute to my institution and those around me. I also lead though actions and intentions as this can have a powerful influence on students’ minds.
