About Candace James

Hi, I'm Candace - a researcher, designer, and creative artist hoping to further my career in the creative design space.I started my healthcare career as a pharmacy technician and have been working in the healthcare industry in one form or another for the last 19 years. Feeling like I was close to burning out, I decided to go back to school. I studied Game Design at Full Sail University and graduated with a B.S. in June 2020. While there, I became fascinated with the user research that was conducted when having users playtest my games. I enjoyed watching users try to figure out what to do and come up with solutions to solve any problems that they ran into while playing.That fascination with user research led me to enroll in the UX Design program at Kent State University, where I obtained my master's in December 2022. In this program, I found that I also love designing wireframes and prototypes. This program and future career fulfill my creative energy and I love having several outlets to unleash that energy into the world, whether that be through interaction, design, or research.My goal is to never stop learning. I want to learn from those that have been in the industry longer than me and always continue improving my designs. My background in healthcare has given me a wealth of customer service experience that I feel will come in handy when working on future projects and communicating with clients.
