About Candice Powers
I studied Environmental Biology and Women's and Gender Studies at Georgetown and have a passion for protecting the health and biodiversity of our oceans alongside supporting sustainable marine industries. Growing up in coastal Maine has led me to explore and greatly appreciate the value of our oceans, which I am increasingly motivated to preserve in the face of global climate change. I have experience in both the academic and industry research sectors, having contributed to projects investigating the behavior and health of bottlenose dolphins as well as the budding kelp farming industry along Maine's coast. I have also led and enjoyed hands-on volunteer efforts such as compositing initiatives, beach clean ups, and water quality monitoring that provide immediate benefits to our ecosystems and those who enjoy them. I have honed my scientific research, writing, and communication skills throughout my undergraduate coursework and experiences and hope to apply these skills and my environmental enthusiasm to projects that better our world for both people and planet.
