About Candice Ward

I have a particular clinical interest in Type 1 Diabetes, especially in intensive insulin management, structured education, advanced communication skills (such as motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and the use of technology (closed-loop / AID, insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring etc). I have been actively involved with numerous national and international research projects stretching from Type 1 Diabetes specific research to other Diabetes translational research as well as smaller user evaluation studies for new diabetes technology. I have extensively contributed to Diabetes on a local, regional and national level for many years. In the past, I have sat on the UK Diabetes Specialist Group of the British Dietetic Association and the national DAFNE executive committee, was a national DAFNE healthcare trainer, DAFNE peer reviewer, external DAFNE quality auditor, DAFNE educator committee member and chair of the regional DAFNE network. I have also been a member of various adhoc working groups for Diabetes UK, Department of Health and other stakeholders developing diabetes-related policy, guidelines and resources. I am a proficient speaker who has successfully delivered lectures and training on an international level. I have been regularly involved in product development and marketing for a number of different diabetes-related technologies.
