About Cara Fiore

Cara Fiore has worked as a special education teacher and case manager in Oak Lawn, Illinois since 2016. She has gained experience working in a culturally diverse, inclusive, 21st-century high school in the Chicago suburbs. Her professional teaching career began as an instructional assistant, working one-on-one with students to help them reach academic and functional goals across all content subjects and electives. This opportunity allowed her to understand the student body and observe excellent teachers regularly. After joining the Special Education Department in a support role, Cara wanted to return to school to earn her Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement. She earned the LBS1 endorsement and quickly transitioned to a full-time teaching and co-teaching position. As a case manager, she works collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues to provide a challenging curriculum to help students meet their post-secondary goals. She also gained experience teaching physical science, history, and reading strategies within general education and in a self-contained setting. Currently, she is working towards a Master's degree in Integrated Curriculum, with a focus in Special Education, from the American College of Education.
