About Cara McLaughlin

Future world-changer and lifelong humanitarian. I am currently employed as an Account Executive whereby I am primary liaison between clients and elected representative to allow them to efficiently connect to enhance their policy agendas through lobbying. Subsequently, I facilitate meetings and provide ongoing support for both parties. No two days are the same, and with the ever-changing nature of the political environment, I am always prepared for unexpected tasks, problems, and deadlines. As such, every aspect of my role here requires meticulous attention to detail. I regularly use my initiative and judgement to stay ahead with tasks and work effectively both alone and as part of a team. This means I consistently handle competing workloads and feature strong prioritisation and organisational skills.Previously, I secured a Political Communication MSc at the University of Glasgow for which I received a graduation with distinction. I previously graduated with a 2.1 MA in Social Sciences with Honours in Politics. In my undergraduate years, I received the John Fowler Memorial Prize for having the best dissertation in Honours politics 2021. This piece of work was a creative endeavour and something I used qualitative research skills to undertake.My voluntary experiences have provided learning opportunities within different fields. Most recently, my leadership, team working, and creative abilities are apparent within my volunteering with Equal Futures role where I, alongside my team, regularly maintained the organisations’ social media accounts. This connected me with local and national communities.I have a vested interest in politics - particularly Scottish politics. My areas of interest lie within political communication, political parties, and community engagement. I have a passion for influencing positive change in areas around me.
