Background

About Cara Stanfield

I am currently employed at Natchitoches Parish Detention Center as a Site Director for Ashland University, where I help inmates work towards their college degrees. I am attending school at Northwestern State University, pursuing my Bachelor's in General Studies. I really enjoy working in the specific adult education environment I'm in. I work on making sure students have a smooth admission process, as well as maintaining site inventory, monitoring online attendance, and recruiting new students. Aside from the obvious responsibilities, my position involves handling daily, weekly, and monthly spreadsheets. I have a lot of experience with computers and Microsoft Office, and I would say that Math is my strong suit. Previously, I worked as an Instructor Aide for the HiSET program at NPDC, assistant manager at Casey Jeweler and library technical assistant at Natchitoches Parish Library. Organization was a huge part of all of those jobs, and I believe my experience with each one has thoroughly prepared me for the career I have now. Someday, I would love to work at the Department of Corrections Headquarters in Baton Rouge. Even if that is not what happens for me, I would love to further build my career in education in correctional facilities.
