About Carey Cavanaugh

Education leader focused on enhancing reputation of Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce and providing an intimate learning environment that encompasses both the politics and economics of international affairs. Key to this effort is expanding co-curricular, experiential learning, by incorporating into program direct contact between students and corporate and government leaders through visits by students to industry headquarters and operations, observation of activities at government and military institutions, as well as visits by senior executives and public officials to the University of Kentucky. Also, former Chairman of the Board of International Alert, a leading independent peacebuilding non-governmental organization. Headquartered in London, with a European office in The Hague, International Alert has staff baser in nineteen countries partnering with over 800 organizations on projects designed to shape policies and practices to advance peace and working with people directly affected by international conflict. Also, maintain diplomatic engagement through special projects with the Department of State, European Union, OSCE and other international affairs non-governmental organizations.
