About Carey McRae

Carey Bennett McRae is Senior Vice President at Encompass Health Corporation. He is in charge of regulatory enrollment, state approvals, and licensure. Carey holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi (1997) and is a former Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1992, where he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Alabama Law Review. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 1988. In the past, Carey has served as Adjunct Professor of Law at both the University of Alabama School of Law and the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham. He teaches courses on legal counseling, interviewing, and negotiation. Carey is a member of the American Association of Corporate Counsel, American Health Lawyers Association, American Bar Association - Health Law Section, Alabama State Bar Association, and the Birmingham Bar Association. In June 2019, Governor Kay Ivey appointed Carey to serve on the Alabama Statewide Health Coordinating Council (SHCC). The SHCC is tasked with creating and revising the Alabama State Health Plan to ensure that all Alabama residents have access to quality health care services.
