About Carey Smith

Experienced Architectural Bim Modeler and Administrator, Coordinator, and Construction Admin/Site Reviewer from project types ranging from cottages to retail fit outs, from historic building renovations to ground-up Community Centres. My main focus is to ensure the intent of the design is maintained throughout the design and construction process, that the form informs the detailing and not the other way around. Learning has always been my passion. I approach every challenge as an opportunity to learn more from my colleagues and team, or as an opportunity to share the knowledge I have gained from my years of experience. I engage with consultants with a baseline knowledge of each system to ensure we can communicate in plane with one another to find effective solutions together. Outside of work, I am a husband and a father. I dabble in many things that focus around art, technology, and storytelling. I am a jack of all trades and a master of some, and always on the lookout for the next thing to dive deep into. I am passionate about teaching and often gravitate toward working with junior team members and students to help home their skills to project them forward through their careers. Finding people that are receptive, hungry for knowledge, and challenge the status quo for the greater good is exciting to me.
