About Cari Heumann

I graduated from Villanova University in with a BA in psychology and a minor in sociology. The summer after graduation, I worked as a Therapeutic Staff Support for children with behavioral issues and autism. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2001 with a Masters in Social Work. While in graduate school, I interned at SUNY Upstate Medical University's Regional Oncology Center. In my second year of graduate school, I interned at Vera House, an organization providing services to victims of domestic violence. After my years in Syracuse, NY, I worked for almost 6 years as a hospital social worker at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. I gained experience working in various floors of the hospital: medical, surgical, orthopedic, cardiac, Intensive Care Unit, Transitional Surgical Unit, stroke/neuro, and 23 hour temporary stay. As a social worker, I was responsible primarily for discharge planning. This included placing individuals in short term rehab, skilled nursing facilities, and long term care facilities. I also assisted the psych department in coordinating voluntary admissions to psychiatric and substance abuse facilities. I completed psychosocial assessments, provided community resources, and coordinated family meetings. I served as a liaison between third parties and the medical staff. I obtained authorizations and precerts for SNF stays and ambulance transports. I addressed end of life issues and assisted in getting patients hospice services as appropriate. In 2007, I resigned as a social worker to be a stay-at-home mom. I volunteered as homeroom parent and in the school library when my daughter was in elementary school. From 2016-2018, I worked part-time as a Welcome Neighbor representative, visiting new homeowners and giving them information about area services and businesses. In 2019, I completely switched gears and went down a more holistic, spiritual, and metaphysical path. I have completed four levels of traditional Native American Shamanic study and am also trained in Level 2 Reiki. In 2021, I began cohosting on Fresh Perspective, a radio show on WCHE 1520 AM in West Chester, PA. In September 2023, I was accepted into the online certification program for the Globe Institute’s Sound Healing & Consciousness program.
