About Cari Teran

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Vice Chair of the California Child Abduction Task Force, I have dedicated 25 years to advancing trauma recovery, advocacy, and innovative healthcare solutions for survivors of abuse and violence. I am the Founding Director and CEO of Healing to You (HTY), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) providing comprehensive medical, mental health, forensic, and advocacy services to children and adults impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and community violence. Our programs serve Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties, working in collaboration with domestic violence shelters, law enforcement, and community-based organizations. Through innovative program development, I have designed trauma-informed healthcare systems that bridge critical service gaps. I have also secured and managed multimillion-dollar grants to expand access to life-saving care for underserved and marginalized communities. Healing To You services include: Mobile Healthcare & Mental Health Services – Providing trauma-informed primary care, mental health treatment, STI/STD testing, developmental screenings, and infant massage education to domestic violence shelters and high-risk communities. Wilmington Comprehensive Community Clinic – Opening in Spring 2025, will provide adult and pediatric primary care, mental health services, sexual assault forensic exams and advocacy, and 3D/4D ultrasounds. Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) – Offering 24/7 forensic medical exams and advocacy for survivors of child abuse, sexual and domestic violence. Legal Empowerment & Advocacy Program – Supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in navigating the legal system. My expertise includes trauma and abuse recovery, abduction reunification, relationship challenges, maternal-child health, parenting support, and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. I am committed to cultural humility and anti-racist practices, fostering inclusive and affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I am certified in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Seeking Safety, and Infant Massage Education.
