I am a research director and quantitative researcher, with a strong focus on public policy. I lead a high impact programme of policy and research at the Sutton Trust, an education charity, focused on educational disadvantage and social mobility. Our research is widely cited in government, parliament and national media. I also regularly act as a spokesperson and commentator on education issues in broadcast media, including BBC, ITV and Sky News, and have contributed pieces to the Irish Times and other publications. In 2020 I initiated the 'COVID Social Mobility and Opportunities Study'(COSMO), bringing together an expert cross-organisational and cross-disciplinary team to deliver a new national longitudinal cohort study in England on the long-term impacts of the pandemic on young people's life chances, securing £4.6m in funding from United Kingdom Research and Innovation.
