I hold a doctorate in Computer Science, in the area of 3D telepresence and virtual reality. This involved the development of a real-time 3D reconstruction system that ran on commodity hardware. This work investigated approaches to distributing and processing video for a world-class real-time 3D telepresence, and included: • GPU (CUDA/OpenCL) and CPU (C/C++) implementation of the system and evaluating performance. • Connecting distributed capture-reconstruction nodes using TCP and UDP. • Using image processing and computer vision techniques to segment video. • Working with MPEG-4/H.264 compression • Evaluating the impact of compression on image processing quality. My research areas and interests are in GPGPU computing, image processing and machine vision.
