About Carl Sinnott

I have been playing hockey for most of my life, and I still play now. Starting at a young age has helped build my teamwork and communication skills, two things that I use everyday. My first job was landscaping, and I have done many other manual labour jobs since, mostly in various automotive factories. I have worked customer service and have volunteered doing things from planting trees to building bicycles. I am currently going into my fourth year at the University of Windsor for an Honours degree in History. Through the University, I have been able to work as an intern with the Gathering Our Heroes project, doing hands on research with primary documents. Another class I had ended with building an exhibit at the Chimczuk Museum, and the class I am currently taking has me writing a paper on the history of the Royal Canadian Air Force as well as filming a short documentary for the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association. In addition, I have participated in extracurricular activities through the University. I have written descriptions of events that have occurred around the Detroit River for a project that the Windsor Harbourmaster to put plaques near the river. I also participated in the third annual Borderlands Conference, talking about the Scripps family of Detroit and how they helped the city develop its intellect and an appreciation for art, through many donations to places such as the Detroit Institute of Art and the Burton Historical Collection at the Detroit Public Library. I have also taken part in historical reenactments during spare time, and I try to collect old military gear that I find interesting or that my family has a connection to.
