About Carla Gardner

As a college graduate with a Bachelors in Business and Minor in Psychology, I found myself in the highly competitive world of salesmanship. These skills have translated into the classroom. As much as I would like to think that every day I am "teaching", somedays I am "selling" education to an audience that initially was not interested in buying, but leave as highly satisfied customers. As a mother of three, I have never stopped gaining knowledge about the compassion and understanding necessary to keep an open, honest relationship with children. Being aware of your word choice, reading between the lines, knowing the modern slang-terms, and a little bit of sarcasm are all languages I am well-versed with. As an educator, I have found my calling. Nothing beats a middle schooler that is *actually* excited about learning and willingly acknowledges you in public settings with a loud,"Hi, Mrs. Gardner!". I push students to be critical thinkers and intrinsically motivated by their own successes. My classroom is welcoming to all students and is not utilized as a platform or soapbox for my personal, political, and/or religious beliefs. I believe in parents raising their children, and I am honored to be teaching their children the curriculum from Arizona state standards.
