About Carla Taylor

A believer in lifelong learning and applying knowledge across diverse contexts, I'm blessed to have accrued a broad range of skills throughout my career. These have served me well in a number of sectors including finance, education, hospitality, retail, business networking and advocacy, and now healthcare. For 20 years, I was CEO of the Zouki Group, writing copious government tenders and creating more than jobs to deliver mainstream-quality cafes and retail precincts in many of Australia's largest teaching hospitals. Building this brand from 1 eatery to 130+ outlets in a hitherto-untapped market involved the development of a business model capable of straddling private enterprise and the highly regulated public health sector. From 2011-2017, I worked in a voluntary capacity with local and foreign diplomats, bureaucrats, politicians and business leaders as Founding Director and Executive Secretary of ALCCI: a bilateral chamber of commerce linking Australian SMEs with the 14-million strong Lebanese Diaspora through trade missions and numerous large-scale events. For the 5 years leading to May 2022, I worked as a business consultant - writing white papers, mentoring young entrepreneurs, immersing myself in research and education in the GP training space. Above all else, I spent this time learning how to make the most of every day while fighting cancer. In May 2022, I was asked to step into some pretty big shoes as the CEO of GP Supervisors Australia (GPSA), with whom I worked in research and education as Project Manager from February 2020. I'm loving this new direction my career has taken, and keen to lend a fresh perspective to the GP training context as I dive into supporting and advocating for the incredible GP supervisors, training practice owners and managers whose contribution to Australia's apprenticeship model is key to delivering a strong, future-proofed primary health system for this country.
