About Carla White
Carla White is a clinical pharmacist and Assistant Dean of the Office of Innovative Leadership and Diversity at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her strategic leadership, versatility, and relentless drive for innovation have become hallmarks of her tenure at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Under White’s vision to build innovative education and program models, she was able to craft an advanced and sustainable institutional strategy. White has achieved national prominence for her work, including numerous invited speaking engagements and publication of a number of peer- reviewed articles on leadership, strategic planning, communication, diversity and inclusion. White served as the Principal Investigator for an eighty-thousand dollar grant from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for a pilot program for recruitment of minority students into schools of pharmacy. White pioneered and developed the Pharmacy College Admission Test Reviews 2005, Recruitment Ambassadors Program 2008, Carolina Pre-Pharmacy Club 2009, Alumni Summits 2009, Leadership, Excellence and Development (LEAD) Programs 2009, The Leadership Academy 2011, and Mentoring Future Leaders in Pharmacy Program (M-FLIP) 2011, and Undergraduate Students for Diversity in Pharmacy (USDP) 2013, which expanded the presence of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in North Carolina and beyond. She also established the first postdoctoral education fellowship at the School in 2011, and designed and developed two health communications courses titled: Contemporary Communications in Healthcare (PHCY 124) and Contemporary and Applied Communications in Healthcare (PACE 811). Prior to her current role, White served as the Director of the Pharmaceutical Care Labs at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. White is the recipient of several leadership, teaching, mentoring and media awards and served as the health team pharmacist at WRAL TV in Raleigh, North Carolina from
