About Carlene Chitters

I am a scientist in diagnostic genomics with broad expertise across cytogenomic and molecular testing techniques, including karyotyping, FISH, microarray, multiple PCR-based assays, MLPA, DNA profiling, and NGS. My work has been predominantly in constitutional genetics, with a particular focus on the fertility sector. Excellence and passion are core values that have driven my career, leading me to serve on multiple committees, act as a technical assessor for a laboratory accreditation body, and manage educational programs in my workplace. I truly care about the importance of diagnostic genomics and the crucial role laboratory professionals play in delivering an essential service to the community. We are in a revolutionary time with genetic testing that is evolving at an exponential pace and I am excited to be here for it all. Hence, it is now more important than ever for us to ensure we meet quality requirements, draft guidelines, mentor young professionals, have continuous education, network and have meaningful discussions.
