My name is Carlos Correa and I currently work in the City of Richardson’s Communications and Community Engagement Department. As the Social Media Manager, I oversee 41 channels including pages on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, NextDoor, and LinkedIn. I create original content for our channels including shooting traditional videos, reels, and stories, as well as taking still photographs at community events and with various departments to help tell Richardson’s story, all while sharing important messages with the public. I edit using Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut. I organize our Quarterly Social Media Meetings, where other content creators around our city gather to review best practices, explore trends, and help in the development of our various content calendars. Almost a year ago, I began supervising our Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist, who was hired to assist me in everyday tasks including content creation. Also, I supervise and work with our Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program intern mentoring and providing real work experience. I maintain the city’s website RichardsonToday.com and create news content for the city’s website, Cor.net. I am bilingual, speaking English and Spanish. I have provided interviews for Telemundo during an active winter season recently, and have utilized my skills to help translate signage for Election Day and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, I am an Independent Contractor for a local nonprofit organization serving as its Social Media Manager. This Fall, my podcast "Carlos Tonight" will begin its fourth season. The show started as a pandemic project where I sat down with people that I met before, during and after my television career. The show has received national recognition and airs weekly. Previously, I was a journalist for 22 years. I am an Emmy nominated, award-winning reporter, anchor and producer. I have worked in print, radio, and the last 17 years in television. In addition, I was an adjunct professor at Missouri State University, teaching news writing classes. During my television career, I helped manage station websites & social media channels since the beginning of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This includes, nonprofit groups I have volunteered and worked for in the past and currently.
