About Carlos Guzman

I joined the John Jay College Institute for Justice and Opportunity in October of 2021 to help bridge the digital divide for students that have been through the criminal justice system. I'm currently developing curriculum and providing training in digital literacy and MS Office to develop new social and economic opportunities for students, their families, and their communities. Prior to joining the institute, I worked 12 years at the Grace Institute as a computer instructor, providing job skills training in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, LinkedIn, and resume formatting to underserved women in the New York area. I have been delivering training across the CUNY system, corporate and nonprofit organizations for the past 20 years, including spearheading A+ certification training at Hunter College Continuing Education and Lehman College's CUNY on the Concourse, as well as MS Office training and database programming using Microsoft Access. As Manager of Copyright Licensing at BMG, Koch International L.P, and Director of Copyright Licensing at Zomba Music Publishing, I developed license tracking software in Visual Basic and FileMaker Pro, implemented Microsoft collaboration tools to improve company-wide communications, and provided in-house training for Microsoft applications. I hold an A+ Certification, Google IT Support, am constantly developing my skills through LinkedIn learning and attended Queensborough Community College.
