About Carlos Tinoco

Calgary Native Carlos Tinoco is in his fourth year of studies at the University of Ottawa, pursing his PhD in Interdisciplinary Research in Music. Carlos is working towards health promotion as well as increasing musicians’ health literacy. Carlos has extensive performance experience both as a soloist and in various ensembles has won 4 international competitions. During his studies, Carlos has received many scholarships including the Jason Lang Scholarship three times, the Don Wright Price, and the Fine Arts Scholarship from the University of Calgary. In the last year, Carlos presented his working paper on musicians’ health resources in Canada at two major international conferences and is looking to publish this year. Alongside his studies, Carlos teaches saxophone and clarinet lessons privately and frequents schools in the Calgary area as a clinician. He is a performing member with the Calgary Stampede Band of Outriders, a board member with the Calgary Youth Wind Ensemble, and a member of the Performing Arts Medicine Association Young Professionals.
